Install on Mac
There is one download for each kind of Mac. To know which one you have, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac: it says Chip: Apple M1 (or M2, M3…) on an Apple Silicon Mac, and Processor: Intel on an Intel Mac.
-
Download the current version for your Mac:
-
Check the file. Open Terminal in the folder where you saved it and run:
Terminal window shasum -a 256 DistributedCryptography-Mac-AppleSilicon.dmgThe result must be the same as this value:
Loading…If the value is not shown, open the release page: it lists the SHA-256 of every file, and so does SHA256SUMS.txt.
Terminal window shasum -a 256 DistributedCryptography-Mac-Intel.dmgThe result must be the same as this value:
Loading…If the value is not shown, open the release page: it lists the SHA-256 of every file, and so does SHA256SUMS.txt.
If it is different, do not use the file. Download it again.
-
Open the
.dmgand drag DistributedCryptography onto the Applications folder shown next to it. -
Allow it to run. The app is not signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS puts it in quarantine: if you double-click it, macOS blocks it or says it comes from an unidentified developer. Remove the quarantine mark. In Terminal run:
Terminal window sudo xattr -cr /Applications/DistributedCryptography.appIf you copied the app to another folder, use that folder instead of
/Applications. -
Start the application. It starts the wallet and opens your browser at
http://localhost:5000/wallet.wallets. To stop it, quit the app from the Dock.
The files are built by GitHub from the public source code, and every version stays available on the releases page.
